What is BIM?
Understanding BIM
BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a collaborative way of working, built around a shared digital model of a building or asset. Beyond 3D geometry, each object in the model carries structured data – dimensions, weight, capacity, material, technical specifications – so everyone involved in a project is able to work from the same accurate, up-to-date information.
At REID, we were one of the first lifting manufacturers to provide and create a comprehensive selection of BIM objects, available from the BIMStore in both Revit and IFC formats.

Search
Browse our BIM library and find the REID product you need – from Porta Gantry and Porta Gantry Rapide to our TDavit and Porta Davit ranges.
02.
Download
Download the component free of charge in your preferred format, Revit or IFC.
03.
Implement
Drop the object straight into your model; the embedded product data supports design, coordination, and project management from the outset.

Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about our BIM models, including their capabilities, applications, and how they support your projects.
Why does REID use BIM?
While the 3D aspect of BIM is important, it is the information held within the model that delivers real value. Using our BIM objects lets specifiers, architects, and engineers:
- Position the right REID product within a project at the design stage, with confidence in fit and clearance.
- Access accurate product-specific data – load capacity, dimensions, and weight – directly inside the model.
- Reduce errors and rework by validating the lifting solution before anything is ordered or installed.
- Save time, with ready-to-use components rather than building objects from scratch.
What formats are the BIM objects available in?
Our objects are available in both Revit and IFC formats, so they integrate with most BIM software.
Are the BIM objects free to download?
Yes. All REID BIM components are free to download.
Are your objects COBie compliant?
Yes. All components are created to COBie-compliant standards and carry product-specific information to support design and asset management.
Will the objects slow down my model?
No. We create components with an appropriate file size so the model is not overloaded with irrelevant information.
Where can I download the objects?
Our full BIM library is hosted on the BIMStore and accessible from this page.
